Baccalais has equipped acopos P3 servo driver with safety torque measurement, which can enable many integrated safety functions, thus reducing the cost of mechanical command compliance. Previously, using these functions required an external sensor.

Safety torque measurement is based on internal current measurement, which enables safety limited torque (SLT), safety speed observation (SSO) and safety holding brake test (SBT). These functions are applicable to meet SIL 2 / PL D / cat 3. Safe application to prevent overload. For example, the SLT function can be used to reliably limit the torque applied to the power train and can avoid and safely prevent the occurrence of mechanical overload. In addition, the use of SLT can make mechanical design more cost-effective. SLT also minimizes the risk of operator injury due to crushing or rolling while operating the machine.

SSO function is a virtual speed sensor. SLS safety function can be used without the help of safety encoder to ensure safe operation. This is particularly useful when using linear or torque motors because these types of motors usually do not have an integrated safety encoder.

The SBT function can be used to safely monitor and evaluate the performance of the band brake. The data it collects can provide insight into the condition of the band brake and any damage or wear.
