On December 12, Lenovo Wuhan Industrial Base was awarded the first zero carbon factory certificate in the ICT industry, becoming the first and only zero carbon factory in China’s ICT industry that has been evaluated by a third party. With Wuhan Industrial Base as the pilot of zero carbon upgrading, the “Wuhan Plan” explored by Lenovo Group may become the “zero carbon model” of traditional factories in China’s manufacturing industry, which is of great significance for China’s manufacturing industry to move steadily towards carbon neutrality.
Practicing the concept of green development for many years
Lenovo Wuhan Industrial Base received the first zero carbon factory certificate
At the 2022 Carbon Summit Carbon Neutralization Forum and Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum Green Manufacturing Sub Forum, the first batch of zero carbon factory evaluation certificates were issued. The evaluation certificate is evaluated and issued by the Certification Center of China Electronics Standardization Institute (Beijing Saixi Certification Co., Ltd.) under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in accordance with the group standard of General Specification for Zero Carbon Factory Evaluation issued at the end of September. This standard specifies the basic principles, requirements, methods and procedures for the evaluation of zero carbon plants. It is not only effectively connected with the national green plant evaluation standards, but also connected with the relevant international standards and norms for carbon neutral evaluation.
Relevant leaders of China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute and Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology attended the forum and delivered speeches. In addition to Lenovo Group, BMW Brilliance, Haier, TCL Huaxing, Youda Optoelectronics and other enterprises have also made commitments to actively build zero carbon plants in accordance with the standard of zero carbon plants.
Technicians from Beijing Saixi Certification Co., Ltd. said that Lenovo Wuhan Industrial Base had outstanding performance in three dimensions of carbon management, carbon emission reduction and carbon offset during the review process, among which carbon emission reduction achieved full marks, and finally became the first factory participating in the evaluation to achieve carbon neutrality. “The upgrading of zero carbon factories in Lenovo’s Wuhan Industrial Base has a strong demonstration role, which will provide valuable reference for the zero carbon transformation of traditional manufacturing plants in China.”
During the keynote speech, Liu Keyan, senior manager of Lenovo Global Manufacturing, said: “Lenovo Group is not only a traditional real economy and technology manufacturing enterprise, but also an enterprise that provides’ new IT ‘empowerment for the digital and intelligent transformation of the real economy. For a long time, Lenovo Group has continued to build a zero carbon transformation model for Chinese enterprises from’ dual reality integration, low-carbon development ‘to’ endogenous and exogenous, external empowerment ‘. In the future, it will continue to use its accumulated experience, technology and management capabilities to empower more manufacturing industries The industry and enterprises are moving towards a ‘zero carbon future’ together. ”
Summarize and output “Wuhan Plan”
Create a model for zero carbon upgrading of traditional Chinese manufacturing plants
Lenovo Wuhan Industrial Base is the largest intelligent mobile equipment manufacturing base of Lenovo Group in the world. It is also the first enterprise in the field of electronic information manufacturing in Wuhan that has an annual output value of more than 50 billion yuan, with a maximum daily output of more than 140000 units. While achieving rapid growth, Wuhan Industrial Base has continued to promote product ecological design, use environment-friendly materials, optimize manufacturing processes and promote the use of renewable energy for many years to reduce the emissions of water, noise and air pollutants. All emission indicators are better than national standards.
In terms of green energy use, Wuhan Industrial Base has increased lighting and LED lighting energy-saving transformation through architectural design to reduce energy demand and significantly increase the use of renewable energy, and completed the construction of distributed photovoltaic power stations in December 2019, reducing carbon emissions by about 1104 tons annually. In terms of green process innovation, the APSA Nitrogen Station in Wuhan Industrial Base was officially put into operation in August 2020. By introducing the cryogenic nitrogen production technology of Air Liquide, compared with the traditional PSA gas production method, the nitrogen extraction rate was increased by 2.2 times, the power consumption was reduced by more than 50%, and the power consumption saved for the base was more than 10000 kWh per day.
In terms of digital transformation, Wuhan Industrial Base has made full use of industrial Internet, artificial intelligence, 5G and other “new IT” technologies to integrate the manufacturing industry and carried out a series of innovative projects for intelligent upgrading, such as building the equipment management platform Device mate to improve the utilization of equipment; Independently develop data middle platform IDEAS to realize the interconnection of production and operation data; Import QMS2.0 system to improve product production quality management level; We independently developed the intelligent planning APS system to achieve factory resource management, intelligent production scheduling, agile delivery and improve business efficiency.
In addition, Wuhan Industrial Base has established the full life cycle management of green products, continuously reducing the material consumption per unit product, selecting environment-friendly raw and auxiliary materials, adopting advanced and applicable production technology and efficient energy-saving equipment, and reducing resource consumption and environmental impact in the production process. The base also actively introduced advanced environmental protection processes, equipment and technologies, and carried out product life cycle carbon footprint assessment on mobile phones and tablets produced by the company, making the climate change strategy a reality.
