Schneider Electric, the global leader in digital transformation in the field of energy management and automation, and Enel, a leading enterprise in the global power and renewable energy market, joined hands with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to jointly announce the launch of the beta version of the “net zero carbon city solution toolkit”
The toolkit contains a range of decarbonization solutions to promote the transformation of cities in energy, construction, transportation, water and waste management. Under the guidance, users can identify and optimize the best scheme to meet their specific needs. The programme database includes policy, business and financial models that can reduce carbon emissions and create local value, such as providing green jobs and improving air quality. The beta version brings together more than 200 real cases from more than 110 cities around the world and is open to everyone, especially urban administrators, national government leaders and enterprises. Users can browse and search the corresponding scheme according to the attributes or the most urgent challenges they face.
Jean Pascal tricoire, chairman and CEO of Schneider Electric Group, said: “The release of the net zero carbon city solution toolbox shows that the technology to promote urban decarbonization already exists today. When deploying the solution, we should not only consider the public infrastructure, but also consider the net zero carbon of all buildings, especially our existing buildings. The urban reconstruction plan plays an important role in moving towards a net zero city.”
“Clean electrification is paving the way for economic decarbonization and promoting sustainable urban transformation. With today’s advanced technology and expertise, we have the tools to succeed and have a great opportunity to change the status quo,” said Francesco starace, CEO and general manager of Enel group, “The net zero carbon city solutions toolbox is an important tool for businesses and policymakers. It provides comprehensive energy solutions to contribute to building a more prosperous and resilient society. Enel will work with Schneider Electric to continue to promote large-scale actions and help achieve a more sustainable and inclusive future.”
Schneider Electric incorporated several successfully implemented solutions into the toolbox. These solutions show how energy efficiency management can promote energy and material conservation. The saved energy and materials can be used again in urban infrastructure and community projects, including infrastructure reconstruction and the upgrading of HVAC systems and intelligent automatic control systems in municipal buildings. For example, Meimei In cooperation with Schneider Electric, the Dutch city of Michigan embeds the energy goal into their overall energy-saving plan, solves the problem of infrastructure transformation while achieving the sustainable development goal, and helps all residents of the city reduce the use of energy by 30% to 50%.
The “net zero carbon city solution toolbox” launched this time is the third achievement of the “net zero carbon city” plan, which is an initiative of the world economic forum. Its goal is to coordinate and expand the efforts of enterprises, cities and governments at the national level to provide a sustainable, flexible and equitable urban ecosystem. “Net zero carbon city” The plan is co chaired by Mr. Jean Pascal tricoire, chairman and CEO of Schneider Electric Group, and Mr. Francesco starace, CEO and general manager of Enel group.
