Sick will wholly acquire the Croatian IT company mobilisis on January 1, 2022.
This acquisition expands sick AG’s expertise in wireless networks for IOT devices in the industrial Internet of things. Wireless solutions fill the gap between sensors and it.
In the context of industry 4.0, sick further extends its global technology frontier position in the field of digital positioning beyond the fixed conveyor system, and realizes the seamless integration of customer ecosystem at the machine and process levels.
Since January 1, 2022, sick AG has expanded its minority stake in mobilisis d.o.o. since 2017 to 100%. The Croatian company therefore became a full member of the sick group.
Sick focuses on innovation involving software based sensor solutions in the context of industry 4.0 and related digital transformation. This acquisition enhances sick’s capabilities in wireless networks of industrial Internet of things devices. Mobilisis complements sick’s portfolio of sensor based cloud and edge solutions. Its purpose is to establish a seamless connection between sensor data and cloud platform, and make a significant contribution to the rapid networking between information technology (it) and operational technology (OT).
“Together with our experienced colleagues at mobilisis, we will be able to provide digital sensor system solutions and services for specific applications faster,” said Dr. Niels syassen, executive board member of sick AG. The initial milestone was to expand the combination of digital positioning solutions within and between companies in the context of industry 4.0 – beyond fixed conveyor systems and workshop level applications. Therefore, once the goods leave the fixed conveyor system, they can obtain transparent information about the position of the goods.
“We have developed the first sensor solutions with mobilisis, narrowing the gap between sensors and it,” added Dr. Niels syassen. He was talking about joint development projects – including tdc-e series edge / gateway products, sim2000st-e, tracking and traceability application system controllers, indoor location labels, and programming of location solutions. In recent years, mobilisis has also successfully expanded its core business through intelligent transportation system, fleet management and corresponding cloud applications, and fulfilled the role of sick’s distributor and mature system integrator in Croatia. In cooperation with sick, Croatia’s business will also be strengthened.
In recent years, the two sides have used this opportunity to better understand each other in their cooperation: “our cooperation with mobilisis is very mutual trust and constantly enriched. We hope to promote this in the new architecture,” Dr. Niels syassen described the joint work of the two companies.
